Umerti in MP the hub of illegal firearms: Cops

The police have said that Umerti village in Balwadi district of MP is a hub of unauthorised firearms and there are several factories in the village where such weapons are manufactured illegally.

Pawar said that manufacturing of illegal firearms is the main business in the village.

Pawar said that other than criminals, builders and some political personalities also possessed illegal firearms, ostensibly due to threats received by them.

The illegal firearms which were seized during previous raids, have been destroyed by the state government after the court's order. "Since these firearms were country-made revolvers and pistols, we cannot use them for the benefit of the police force. The firearms seized in various police actions are deposited in the government treasury. It is destroyed by the government after the court's orders," Pawar added.
